Dear Reader,
If you’re here, it’s probably because you’ve started more things than you can count—but finishing? That’s the real challenge.
You’re not alone. The rush of a new idea is intoxicating. The fresh start, the potential, the thrill of discovery. But then… something shinier appears on the horizon. A new idea. A new book. A new project. And just like that, you’re off again, chasing something else while your last great idea lingers, half-done, collecting dust.
I know this cycle well because I’ve lived it. My computer is filled with half-written drafts, my shelves with unread books, my mind with plans that never quite made it to the final digital product and the finishing line. The problem isn’t ambition—it’s direction., what stops me and what is the block? And that’s why I created The Finish Line.
This newsletter isn’t about productivity hacks or rigid to-do lists. It’s about rewiring the way we think about focus, commitment, and completion. It’s for the thinkers, the creatives, the idea-collectors who struggle to finish the things that matter most. I want to create a community that supports us all to reach and cross the finishing line, for accountability and mutual celebration.
Personally, I’m no stranger to the pull of new projects. My mind is always jumping to the next exciting idea—but a newsletter? That wasn’t on my radar. Then it hit me: this could be my perfect medium. A space where I can start and finish meaningful, bite-sized insights each week.
I’d love to hear from you. Have you successfully crossed your own finish lines, or do you struggle to get there? And do you think this newsletter has a place in the Substack community? Let me know—I’m all ears.
This Week’s Focus: The Power of Completion
Here’s one simple truth: unfinished things drain energy. They sit in the back of your mind, whispering reminders of what you should be doing, adding weight to your mental load. But here’s the flip side—completing even small things builds momentum. Each time you finish something, you create a little psychological win. And those wins stack up.
So here’s your challenge this week:
👉 Finish one thing.
Not everything. Not the hardest thing. Just one thing you’ve been putting off. That email, that chapter, that piece of admin—it doesn’t matter what it is. The goal is to close the loop and feel the power of completion.
To help, I’m giving you a free "Finish Line Tracker"—a simple, one-page guide to map out what you’re starting, what you’re finishing, and what’s getting in the way.
Parting Thought
I’ll leave you with this quote from Shunryu Suzuki:
“When you do something, you should burn yourself up completely, like a good bonfire, leaving no trace of yourself.”
What’s Coming Next
In the next issue, we’ll look into into the psychology of fear—fear of pressing "send," fear of imperfection, fear of criticism—and how to turn those fears into fuel for action.
For now, I’d love to hear from you. What’s the one thing you’re committing to finish this week? Hit reply and tell me—I read every response.
Here’s to seeing things through,
Jennifer
